Alright, after some delay let's get things rolling here. The first step is to define what the project goals are and what to do first.

My goals right now are:

• To make a tagging interface that's re-usable in different ways on different wikis.
  • All code should get moved out to libraries.
  • Client stuff should be parameterized. E.g. if a method needs to hook into a DOM node, the id of the node shouldn't be hard-coded.
  • Tag cloud generation & presentation should be separated.
  • Dynamic presentation shouldn't assume it can expand into it's current spot on the page.
  • User-friendly <jot:include>able wrappers for complex stuff.
• To make interactive features degrade gracefully when javascript isn't available in the browser.
  • Init methods that modify the DOM, not on* stuff generated by the server.
  • Static alternatives to dynamic rad-ness.
• To add new and improved tagging interfaces.
  • Clickable tag suggestion (a la delicious).
  • Better pivoting on selected tags.
  • Soft vocabulary enforcement. (a la Google suggest?)
  • Other stuff?

Alright, that's a big list. And it doesn't even talk about performance or add many features yet. Clearly there's a lot that could be done here.

I've begun making tickets for some of these items. Scott has too. But there's still lots to do there, even.
